Gaming the Industrial Revolution: Meet the Writers

Hi there. If you've been following our project for a while, you will likely have read one or two posts like these on our Blog section.

On this site, we've managed to document much of the consideration, hard work and expertise that has gone into making Industrial R[e]volution what it is today, and will continue to do so to keep you up to date as we move forward.

This blog has largely been written between two of our teams members, who have both enjoyed being able to write about this project and its aims greatly.

I'm Simon Hiriart on the right, and on the left is Dr Alexis Litvine. We've been responsible for the GIR blog and you can find a little about me on the About section of this website (along with the rest of this fantastic team), but to save you the trip, I'll tell you a bit here.

I was originally brought onto this project in the second formal GIR meeting, where I attended the workshop in Media City as a student/youth consultant. I've since been involved in discussions and playtesting with the team's education specialists, but have primarily been occupied with this blog, and designing this webpage (of course under some supervision). I'm a sixth form student studying History as an A-level, and to be able to collaborate with so many accomplished and talented individuals and experts has been a thrilling experience. I've learnt a great deal from being able to work on this project, and look forward to seeing it completed.

Dr. Alexis Litvine is a Cambridge researcher and lecturer at Pembroke College, specialising in comparative economic history with a focus on 18th and 19th century France and Britain. He's overseen and designed the project at almost every level, including this blog, and as such has acted as the editor for the blog posts, writing a few also. His interest and work in digital humanities has been on display from the beginning, and shares this interest with many members of the team.

We look forward to the coming developments in the project, and you'll likely be reading more from us in the future.
