Whilst the Industrial Re:evolution project has been primarily focused on the production of the core mechanic (aka the "code") for an educational game, good learning is not possible without contextual information, and narrative components embedded in the game.
(Thumbnailing by Dr Juan Hiriart)
As of this week, the team has managed to produce an introductory animatic video for the project, to help student understand the concept of the Malthusian trap. We wanted to illustrate what the narrative props of the game could be in future versions. Based on a script written by the historians, Juan Hiriart created a first story board and later an animation. Leigh Shaw-Taylor mustered his inner David Attenborough of historical demography for the voice-over.
Have a look at the video!
